Academics are taught with a Christian world view along with spiritual and social values by caring teachers with degrees in elementary and secondary education. In traditional classroom settings, students receive instruction following the New York State curriculum guidelines. A Beka Book and Bob Jones University Press, two major Christian Curriculum publishers, are utilized for core subjects. OCCS teaches the fundamentals of reading through a phonics-based approach. Classroom teachers supplement the regular curriculum with special programs, guest speakers, projects and field trips.

In addition to core studies, children in grades K through 8 receive instruction in art, music, swimming and physical education. The seventh and eighth grade curriculum also includes Spanish, cooking and nutrition, sewing, photography, study skills and technology.
